BOMB SHELTER DIARY
by Shmuel Katz, Bet Shemesh
Back in the shelter this morning for the first time since last week. Although the fighting has been fierce and we continue to hear about casualties (there is no “acceptable” amount – ANY casualty is too many), the rocket fire seemed to be slowing.
Then at about 11:30 this morning, the alert apps on our computers starting beeping like crazy. The alerts were too many to count, mostly focused on the Ashdod/Ashqelon area. I guessed that maybe 40 alerts were issued. After a couple minute pause, more beeping started and we suddenly heard the sirens sound in Bet Shemesh.
There were alerts in Tel Aviv, Rishon LeTzion……it seemed like everywhere in the middle (checkout the photo here from the Tzeva Edom app, showing the alerts for that specific attack). Our phones rang (both daughters checking to make sure we were in the shelter) and beeped (sister checking up on us and then having to run to the shelter herself in Tel Aviv). And we went online to see what was going on.
Since then, the rocketeers seem to have gotten busy again. No major damage or results are being reported and we continue to stay the course, but it is getting a little old (certainly for the people in the south, who have faced this for months).
Please continue your tefillot for the chayalim; we have lost too many and we need the rest home safely just as soon as they are finished with their work.
