The agency that oversees New York City’s public transit system says it will continue to allow political advertisements on subways and buses but will require them to carry disclaimers.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority adopted the new policy Thursday in the wake of a court decision that forced it to run an ad implying that enemies of Israel are “savages.”

Under the new policy, ads expressing political, religious or moral viewpoints will have to include legends cautioning the views being expressed aren’t necessarily endorsed by the MTA.

A federal judge had ruled the MTA couldn’t refuse to accept an ad saying, “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad.”

An Egyptian-born columnist was arrested this week for vandalizing one of the ads.
