NY NCSY, a branch of the Orthodox Union’s international youth movement, is scheduled to hold its 8th Annual Communitywide Basketball Tournament on Sunday, May 4. Tournament games for 5-on-5 and 3-on-3 teams begin at 9:00 a.m. at local gyms around the Five Towns. After the morning qualifying games conclude, all the participating players will come together at Lawrence High School at noon for a pizza lunch hosted by Shula’s Pizza, which will be followed by the Sweet Sixteen games.
The tournament will raise funds for NCSY community programming and for scholarships for Jewish teens who wish to study in Israel after high school and attend NCSY summer programs.
This year’s tournament promises to be highly competitive, attracting top basketball players from across New York and New Jersey.
From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., children of all ages will be treated to entertainment, featuring a petting zoo and Moon Bounce. Food and snacks will be available for purchase.
Prior to the championship game, a winner will be chosen from the raffle campaign. The grand prize is two round-trip tickets to Israel.
The tournament is an enjoyable Sunday event for the community, and, more importantly, to raise much-needed scholarship dollars for our precious Jewish teens.
