Congregation Anshei Chesed of Hewlett and the Yeshiva Gedolah of the Five Towns came together last Shabbos in preparation for the Yomim Noraim. Following Kabbalas Shabbos, Rabbi Meir Kotowitz, a member of the yeshiva’s kollel, spoke to the shul on the topic of the Rambam’s hilchos teshuvah. Shabbos morning, Rosh Kollel Rav Yitzchok Knobel, shlita, inspired the mispallelim with his profound insights on “Serving Hashem with Joy.” Later in the day, women from the shul packed the home of Rabbi and Rebbetzin Lefkowitz to hear a shiur given by Rebbetzin Katzenstein titled “Rosh Hashanah: Are We New and Improved or Improved and New.” Rebbetzin Katzenstein provided words of wisdom, practical direction, and chizuk to the shul’s wives, mothers, and young girls. Shortly thereafter, an intriguing halacha shiur was given by Rabbi Dovid Zomick, also a member of the yeshiva’s kollel, on the topic of ikar v’tofel. At shalosh seudos, the rosh yeshiva, Rav Moshe Zev Katzenstein, shlita, left community members with inspirational words and thoughts about teshuvah. All participants were grateful to the yeshiva for the opportunity to experience such a Shabbos as a community, focused on Torah learning and spiritual growth, particularly as we approach such an important time on the Jewish calendar.
