Rabbi of the Western Wall Shmuel Rabinowitz has submitted a complaint to the police over the publication on social networks of prayer notes placed in the Western Wall.
Tens of thousands of worshipers every year write down their prayers on scraps of paper and place them in the nooks and crannies between the ancient stones.

Rabinowitz described the publication of the prayer notes as “the desecration of a holy place,” and “injurious to the feelings of those placing them there.”

Said the rabbi “The custom of placing prayer notes in the Western Wall is an ancient one. Revealing them is a despicable act which violates the intimate covenant  between man and his creator. It is the responsibility of every person to protect the dignity of worshipers and the contents of their prayers.”

Because of the volume of notes placed between the stones every year, they are collected twice a year and buried on the Mount of Olives.
