This past motzaeiShabbos, Beit Midrash Hachaim V’Hashalom, located at 530 Central Avenue in Cedarhurst, hosted the chief rabbi of Israel, Rav Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron, shlita.
Under the leadership of Rabbi Daniel Ovadia, the beitmidrash is a vibrant community center with many exciting events. There are regular minyanim, shiurim, a kollel, a youth program including barmitzvah preparation, helulot, mesibot, and much more. The beitmidrash is relatively new, however, it is continuously active.
Israel’s chief rabbis, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, shlita, and Rabbi Shlomo Amar, shlita, have also come to speak at the beitmidrash. Many other illustrious rabbanim and mekubalim come and speak periodically. Many people from the community seek advice and counsel from Rav Ovadia regarding all matters.
Hachaim V’Hashalom is a continuation of Moroccan Jewish heritage with a diverse crowd, including Sephardim(EdutMa’arav), EdutMizrach, chassidim, and Ashkenazim. It is a warm and special place where there is a tremendous feeling of achdut, growing together in derechhaTorah and yiratShamayim.
