Bricks Fly Onto Brooklyn Sidewalk During Partial Building Collapse

WILLIAMSBURG — A portion of a three-story building collapsed on Wythe Avenue Wednesday morning, the FDNY said.

The front of the structure, near South 9th Street, came down about 11:20 a.m., spilling bricks on the sidewalk and into the street, officials and witnesses said.

No one was injured, a fire official said.

“We prayed that there were no victims, that no cars were passing by,” said Anna, who said she has lived across the street for 18 years.

Anna, who declined to give her last name, said the building was old.
