Cops shot an armed car thief last night in a Brooklyn housing project, police sources said.

The suspect and a cohort ditched their ride at Kent Avenue and Broadway in Williamsburg at about 11:50 p.m. and one hood fled toward the Williams Plaza Houses, sources added.

Anti-crime cops broadcast they were involved in a foot pursuit, and other officers responded, the sources said.

At some point, they realized the perp they were chasing had a gun and one housing cop and one detective opened fire near Havemeyer Street and Division Avenue, hitting the suspect, the sources added.

It was unclear how may shots were fired and whether the perp used his gun. Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots.

A weapon was recovered at the scene. The suspect was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
