Distinguished cardiologist Qamar Zaman, M.D., a longtime member of the Medical Staff at Mercy Medical Center, has joined the network of St. Francis Cardiovascular Physicians, P.C. as well.
Dr. Zaman, who will continue to practice at Rockville Centre Cardiovascular Associates, was formerly Mercy’s chairman of internal medicine, chief of cardiology, and director of medical education. He has been an attending physician at Mercy since 1976 and an attending at St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center® since 1980.
He received his medical degree from Nishtar Medical College at Punjab University in Pakistan, where he also completed an internal medicine internship. He also completed an internal medicine/obstetrics and gynecology internship at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, followed by an internal medicine residency and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the Veterans Administration Hospital in the Bronx and The Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.
Dr. Zaman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and his publications have appeared in the American Journal of Physiology, Chest, the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, and the British Heart Journal.
