Rabbi Eli and Rebbetzin Beila Goodman, directors of Chabad of the Beaches, produced the summer carnival, a gala entertainment and educational event with free admission for the entire family.

More than 1,500 adults and children throughout the metropolitan NY area flocked to the carnival, which ran Sunday and Monday of the Memorial Day weekend, to enjoy the exciting roller-coaster rides and breathtaking views of the beach from atop the Ferris wheel. Bumper cars, a Tilt-a-Wheel, challenging arcade games, prizes, and face-painting rounded out the carnival experience.

The star of the carnival, at least for the many Jews who came from Long Island, Brooklyn, and other areas, was a stand that enabled children to take part in helping complete a sefer Torah.

Also, many men and boys had the opportunity to wrap tefillin, some for the very first time. Visitors also feasted on glatt kosher hot dogs, poppers, popcorn, and cotton candy provided by Slidewalk kosher food truck, and chalav Yisrael ice cream provided by the Bazel ice-cream truck.

The Memorial Day carnival is just one of the many ways that Chabad of the Beaches interweaves fun and education for an out-of-this world experience. In case you missed it this year, mark your calendar for the Memorial Weekend Carnival in Long Beach–or, even better, in Yerushalayim!
