This year, HALB’s Junior High Girls’ Choir was invited to perform at the annual JFK Airport candle-lighting ceremony on Chanukah. The ceremony is open to everyone in the airport, and many people from diverse backgrounds attend. The crowd started small, but as soon as the music began and the girls started to sing, the crowd grew. People from all over the airport came to see where the beautiful music was coming from and were happily surprised that the pure, joyous sounds were coming from such a young group. Members of the airport staff were singing and clapping while passersby were taking pictures and videos of the event. It was a privilege and an honor that the HALB girls were chosen to perform, and they did a fantastic job. A huge yasher koach to all the girls who performed and to HALB’s choir leader, Saritte Silvera.
