A big mazaltov to all the kitahbet students at HANC’s Samuel & Elizabeth Bass Golding Elementary School in West Hempstead on receiving their first Chumashim.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the kitahbet students gave a heartfelt and song-filled performance that expressed their love of Torah, their joy in learning, and their deep sense of connection to the Jewish people. At the end of the performance, the students proudly and enthusiastically accepted their Chumashim in front of a standing-room-only crowd of parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, teachers, and principals, all of whom were beaming with pride. And after all the students had received their Chumashim, the students made a beautiful berachah of “Shehecheyanu,” to which everyone responded “Amein!”
Congratulations to the kitahbetmorot, Morah Dafna and Morah Rebecca, who, with the help of Morah Zimerman, did a wonderful job preparing the students for this memorable occasion. A special todah to Rabbi Shapiro for supplying the musical accompaniment.
HANC wishes to thank the ever-generous PTA for its continued support and to the collation committee for the delicious snacks. They also acknowledge the generosity of the ChagHaChumash sponsors. Thanks to Jeannie Toplin and HANC custodians Luis and Santiago for their help in creating a meaningful milestone for the children.
