Hundreds of thousands of people from all religious backgrounds have converged on central Jerusalem for the funeral of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. All roads leading into Jerusalem and the center of the city have been closed by the police and access to these areas is impossible by motorized vehicle. United Hatzalah has dispatched and deployed over 350 EMT’s, paramedics and physicians in strategic locations throughout the planned route of the funeral. In addition over 150 ambucycles, 9 ambulances and 3 off-road rescue vehicles. A field clinic staffed by trained emergency medical professionals along with a field and fixed communication command centers help ensure the health and safety of all mourners. As of 6:45 PM, the beginning of the funeral procession, 41 people were treated by United Hatzalah volunteer medical professionals.
