IDF to Test Emergency SMS Alerts to Israelis’ Cell Phones

The Home Front Command will conduct a nationwide testing of the “Personal Message” alert system beginning on Sunday.

The test will be held between 8am and 6pm and will last until Thursday.  Under the system, messages will be sent in four languages: Hebrew, Arabic, English and Russian.  Hundreds of thousands of citizens are expected to receive a personal message during the test.

The following are testing locations by day:

  • Sunday and Monday – system testing will take place in Ramle
  • Tuesday – system testing will take place in the following locations: Haifa, Acre, Nahariya, Carmiel, Safed, Yehud, Kfar Saba, Netanya, Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Kiryat Gat, Sderot and Netivot.
  • Wednesday – system testing will take place in the following locations: Kiryat Shmona, Metula, Yesod HaMa’ala, Tiberius, Rishon Lezion, Rehovot, Yavne, Gedera, Mazkeret Batya, Sde Boker, Mitzpe Ramon, Dimona and Yeruham.
  • Thursday – system testing will take place in the following locations: Afula, Hedera, Nazareth Ilit, Zichron Yaacov, Jerusalem, Modiin, Mevaseret Zion, Beit Shemesh, Ofakim, Netivot, Lehavim, Arad and Ein Gedi.

On Thursday, the system will also be tested nationwide between 10am and 12pm.
