The first cruises from Israel since the Mavi Marmara flotilla incident were set to come to the Alanya district of Antalya. The move was part of the renormalization process between the two countries, but the trips was canceled because of security issues.
According to the report, the deputy ambassador at the the Israeli Embassy in Ankara, Yosef Levi Sfari, was told about security measures that would be taken if the cruise ships arrived. Alanya District Gov. Erhan Özdemir said Israel had given the recent bombing in Reyhanlı in Hatay as the reason behind the cancellation.
