JCC Teaches Tolerance And Acceptance

On Thursday, January 16, at 2:00 p.m., two Holocaust survivors from the JCC of the Greater Five Towns will be presenting an inspirational lecture to more than 150 fifth and sixth graders from the Stewart Manor Elementary School. This date was chosen in conjunction with the school’s January character education themes of tolerance and understanding diversity.

Bernie Igelski and Rae Gleitman, two courageous Nazi victims from the JCC, will talk about their personal experience and how hatred can destroy a nation. A powerful and life-changing message of acceptance will be sent out to all. The students are excited and have been busy preparing for the visit. A special welcome is planned for the courageous Holocaust survivors, followed by a question and answer period.
