By Larry Gordon –
This is how these things work. Secretary of State John Kerry once again get caught in a partisan, critical of Israel, embarrassing one sided statement. This time in his continuous and consistent effort to assign blame on Israel he once again talks about Israel and apartheid intimating that the old South African model where blacks were treated as second class citizens and worse is where Israel is headed.
Needless to say the suggestion is irresponsible and blasphemous. So what does Kerry do, he issues an attorney authored statement parsed and assembled to sound like a denial that he actually accused Israel of being an apartheid state while actually saying nothing.
The statement that follows is from the same repository of, “If you like you insurance, you can keep your insurance.” Here is the Kerry statement on the matter: “Israel is a vibrant democracy and I do not believe, nor have I ever stated, publicly or privately, that Israel is an apartheid state or that it intends to become one. Anyone who knows anything about me knows that without a shred of doubt.”
So how are these words reconciled with what he was recorded saying the other night at a so-called private meeting of the Trilateral Commission about Israel and apartheid and reported by The Daily Beast?
In order to be a an state that practices apartheid you have to have a minority segment of a population ruling and dominating the majority. That is clearly not the case in Israel where eleven Arab citizens serve in the Knesset, in the judiciary and numerous other high official positions. Once again Kerry is being incendiary and using inflammatory language that deceives and misleads.
But he insists he is a great supporter of Israel. His statement said that he does not believe that Israel is an apartheid state. But that is not the issue at hand. No one is suggesting that he said that Israel is practicing apartheid today so why is he denying that? Kerry did however; clearly say on more than one occasion that if Israel does not make peace under any circumstances with the murderous terrorists she will become an apartheid state.
Then the Secretary added that he never said that Israel “intends” to become an apartheid state. No one said that he expressed any such sentiment. Of course Israel does not “intend” on practicing apartheid. Kerry is saying that it will just inevitably happen under current circumstances if nothing dramatic occurs on the peace track. Of course he is wrong again, but taking a truthful opposite position would not make the Palestinians too happy.
So Kerry is once against exposed as not being able to function as an honest broker and more importantly promoting falsehoods that hurt rather than assist the situation in the Middle East. I suppose there is nothing new under the sun. Remember where this all came from, “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”
