Our community will have the great kavod of hosting HaGaon Rav Asher Weiss next Shabbos, Parashas Mishpatim. Rav Weiss is well known throughout the world for his Minchas Asher series on Chumash as well as his many sefarim and teshuvos that have been printed in the areas of Choshen Mishpat and medical halachah. Rav Weiss also serves as the rav of a shul, a rosh yeshiva, rosh kollel, and av beis din. Since the passing of Rav Waldenberg, z’l, Rav Weiss has become the official poseik of Shaare Zedek Hospital in Yerushalayim. Many rabbanim in our community and beyond consult with Rav Weiss on their most complex halachic sheilos.Rav Weiss has graciously agreed to deliver shiurim in various shuls around the neighborhood over the weekend. The weekend will begin with divrei chizuk in the Yeshiva of Far Rockaway on Friday morning. On Friday night, Rav Weiss will be davening in Bais Medrash Heichal Dovid and offer divrei Torah on the parashah. After the seudah on Friday night, Rav Weiss will share Torah perspectives on the recent unfortunate events unfolding in Bet Shemesh. The topic will be “Tolerating the Intolerant” and will be presented at the Bais Medrash of Harborview.On Shabbos morning, Rav Weiss will give the derashah in Shaaray Tefila, after the 9 o’clock davening. Shabbos afternoon, there will be a shiur and shalosh seudos in the White Shul. On Motzaei Shabbos our children will have the great zechus to meet and hear Rav Weiss address the avos u’banim program in Yeshiva Sh’or Yoshuv, followed by a shiur klali in the beis medrash on inyanei Purim. On Sunday morning, a fundraising breakfast will be held in Lawrence at the home of Shea and Fran Kanner, 5 Harborview West, where Rabbi Yonason Sachs will be the guest speaker.
