Congregation Bais Ephraim Yitzchok (Island Avenue Shul) is proud to host Rav Meir Goldvicht, rosh yeshiva at YU RIETS, as a scholar in residence this Shabbos, parashas Mishpatim, February 18 and 19. The schedule is as follows: Friday night oneg Shabbos, 8:30 p.m., for men and women, at the home of Steve and Nechama Landau, 45 Derby Avenue in Cedarhurst (between West Broadway and Carlyle). Topic: “Marriage: Keeping it fresh, keeping it real.” Shabbos derashah. Inyanei Parashas Mishpatim: Hachanah l’kabbalas haTorah—“The key to unlocking your personal success.” Women’s shiur, 3:00 p.m., at the home of Chaim and Daniella Wieder, 366 Barnard Avenue in Woodmere (between Emerson and Carlyle). The topic is “Guiding Our Children Through Life’s Challenges.” Men’s shiur, 4:30 p.m., in the shul, “Kedushas Eretz Yisrael U’kedushas H’adam B’halacha U’Vagada.” Sholosh Seudos following Minchah, “Seeing The Ayin Harah And The Ayin Tov In Our Daily Lives.” All of the shiurim are l’ilui nishmas Harav Dovid Aryeh ben Yehoshua. Rabbi Meir Goldvicht, a prominent Israeli scholar and educator, is the Joel and Maria Finkle Visiting Israeli rosh yeshiva and a rosh yeshiva at the Yeshiva Program/Mazer School of Talmudic Studies at Yeshiva University. He is also head rosh yeshiva at the Irving I. Stone Beit Midrash Program. Rabbi Goldvicht received semichah from the renowned rabbinic authorities Rabbi Zalman Nehemia Goldberg, former Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, HaRav HaGaon Betzallel Zolti, and Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, HaRav Rashi of Israel. Rabbi Goldvicht delivers Hebrew and English shiurim (lectures) extensively across the metropolitan area, throughout the United States, and in Israel, including weekly evening shiurim in five New York area communities. He has delivered more than 1,000 inspiring shiurim every year to grateful audiences. Rabbi Goldvicht is also rosh kollel at Camp Mesorah. The entire community is invited to give kovod haTorah and to share in the many shiurim being offered.
