Choir members from Central, HAFTR, HANC, Shalhevet, and SKA are all singing away in preparation for the big night. The event, led by HAFTR, will raise money for American Friends of Panim el Panim. “The theme of this year’s competition is unity,” says Mrs. Rachel Gerstley, coordinator of the program. “All the songs will reflect the theme. It is befitting as this event serves to unify all involved and is certainly the message we need in Israel today. American friends of Panim el Panim reaches out to teach young adults in Israel more about their Jewish identity and helps to bridge the gap between the secular and religious.” The competition will take place on Wednesday, February 22, 7:30 p.m. at HAFTR High School, located at 635 Central Avenue in Cedarhurst. Tickets are on sale now at the participating high schools. Ticket prices are $10 for students in advance; $12 at the door; and $15 V.I.P. It is for women only. For more information, contact Mrs. Rachel Gerstley at HAFTR 516-569-3807, ext. 722, or e-mail rachelgerstley@yahoo.com.
