Long Island High School Placed on Lockdown Because of Suspicious Person Report

A Long Island high school has been placed on lockdown because of a suspicious person reported on school grounds, police said.

According to Schools Superintendent Ralph Ferrie, Elmont High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after someone called 911 saying they had seen a student with a suspicious object.

Nassau County police said the 911 caller saw what appeared to be a “lime green gun” sticking out of the person’s backpack.
