(April 25, 2016 New York, NY) — Macaulay Honors College at The City University of New York is proud to announce that Five Towns resident Tamar Lichter (Queens College) has received a prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program awards one-and-two year grants to undergraduates who have the potential to make significant contributions to their fields in undergraduate study in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

 

Lichter, who is a mathematics major, wants to pursue a Ph.D. in mathematics and to conduct research and teach at the university level.

 

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman, including 30 years of service in the U.S. Senate.
