MAY Chinese Auction Spreads Warmth

On motzaeiShabbos,February 7, Mesivta Ateres Yaakov will be holding its annual gala Chinese auction at the yeshiva building, 131 Washington Avenue in Lawrence.

This year the auction has a winter theme: “The Warmth of MAY on a Winter’s Day.” This double entendre is most appropriate because the event always creates amazing ruach and warmth among all the participants. The event will be a fun, entertaining evening in support of MAY’s programs. Guests will enjoy great odds of winning excellent prizes, a sumptuous buffet sponsored by Ossie’s, musical entertainment, door prizes, and illusions and magic of the mind by the famed magician Sam Jacobs!

This event highlights the special warmth for which MAY is famous—warmth that encompasses the relationships between the faculty and students, between administration and students, and between the students themselves.

Established in 1987, MAY has flourished upon relocating to its current Lawrence campus. The yeshiva includes a thriving mesivta of 190 talmidim and a yeshivagedolah, kollel, and a community kehillah. These programs and the yeshiva’s role as a community-centered makomTorah have made Ateres Yaakov a true community resource. Preparations for the construction of a recreation annex, complete with a regulation gymnasium, are nearly complete.

The yeshiva may provide “Rebbeim for Life, Education for Life, Torah for Life,” but the time to buy auction tickets at early-bird discount prices will not last forever. Visit the auction store at or call 516-374-6465, ext. 4005 to participate.
