Mesivta Ateres Yaakov recently held its annual dinner in the White Shul. The mesivta celebrated with parents and friends who came out to pay tribute to a yeshiva that encompasses a community high school, a yeshiva gedolah, a community kehillah, and a growing program of community education and shiurim.
The honorees included Guests of Honor Dr. Steven and Dr. Elisa Kadish, Parents of the Year David and Simone Ambalo, and Kehilla Ateres Yaakov awardees Dr. Benjy and Judi Weiss. Mr. Sanford Pesner was given the award for Educator of the Year in recognition of his 25 years of teaching science to MAY students. A special presentation was made to Jason Curry and Joel Beritz from the Gruss Monument Funds, recognizing the tremendous support and guidance for the yeshiva’s quest for the highest quality general studies education.
Attendance at this year’s gala was up by nearly 30%—a tribute to the many honorees and to MAY’s increasing visibility in the community. Mr. Shiu Reichman, a well-known askan and a longtime Ateres Yaakov board member, served as the master of ceremonies. Dr. Yossie Jeret, a mesivta board member and prior honoree, introduced the yeshiva’s Torah campaign in a most eloquent fashion and encouraged the mesivta family to participate.
Mr. Mark Gold, co-president and an alumni parent, said, “The large number of attendees and their enthusiasm gave great chizuk to the rebbeim and staff in attendance.” Ateres Yaakov thanks all of those who attended and those who worked so hard to make the event a success. v
