I am getting burned out reading about upheaval, turmoil, scandals, and warnings of impending danger. I always prided myself on being well informed and keeping up with the news. But the news is dragging me down.
So I started writing about our local real estate for this week to inform you and keep things light, until I heard Mike Gallagher this morning on the radio (AM970). It seems that talk has not died down yet about the George Zimmerman case. Mike was referring to an interview Oprah Winfrey did on ABC where she equated what happened to Trayvon Martin with the 1955 kidnapping, torture, and murder by two white men of a 14-year-old black boy in Mississippi by the name of Emmett Till.
According to Mike Gallagher, there is no similarity in what was a purely racial hate crime in 1955, which he condemns, and the unfortunate killing in self-defense of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman.
Now I can understand how liberals can see a moral equivalence between Arab terrorist murderers who kill Jews in cold blood and the Israeli army soldiers who strikes back in self-defense. The liberals’ minds are so skewed that they can find moral equivalence in anything.
I agree with Mike that there may not be anything we can do to change their views. If they don’t understand the difference between killing someone in cold blood just because they are black or just because they are Jews and killing a terrorist or anyone else in self-defense, then they may be beyond logic and honest appraisal of fact.
But instead of letting this get me down, I should be thankful that there are some people out there who do see the truth.
