A murder suspect threw water on his own defense — literally.

Jerome Power, 50, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa grabbed a paper cup of water and  doused his attorney with it while standing in court during closing arguments on  Monday.

Power was apparently unhappy the jury was headed off to deliberate his first  degree murder charge.

“It should have been a mistrial,” Power said before grabbing the water,  according to KCRG. “You sold me out!”

Attorney Steve Addington was then splashed before court officials could jump  into the fray.

Power is accused of strangling to death Doris Bevins, 68, in her home Sept.  19, 2010. Police found Power hiding behind her door.

He has pleaded not guilty.

His water display was witnessed by some jurors, KCRG reported.

Far from a cut-and-dry case, the jury was still deliberating Tuesday.
