Former WBA middleweight champion and Brooklynite Yuri Foreman, a recently ordained Orthodox Jewish rabbi, pulled a unanimous eight-round decision comeback win against Washington DC’s Lenwood Dozier this weekend.
Judges saw it 77-75 for Foreman, who is now 33-2 with 9 KOs.
According to boxingscene.com, Belarus-born Israeli Foreman kept busy enough to put points on the board without wowing over judges. Dozier’s shock punch in the first round, however, never materialized into urgent play, according to the website.
Foreman is a former WBA super welterweight champion. He moved to Brooklyn in 1999 to pursue his dream of professional boxing and became the first Israeli world champion ever. Saturday night’s bout as his first following a nearly two year hiatus.
