Pop superstar Rihanna weighed in on the ongoing Hamas-Israel war on Tuesday and quickly backtracked shortly afterwards,
“#FreePalestine”, she tweeted, deleting the controversial post only 8 minutes later.
Twitter users captured screenshots of the singer’s post before it was removed from the social media website. The message was re-tweeted 5,649 times and was marked “Favorite” by 4,007 of her followers prior to being erased.
Rihanna’s message was posted at 9:14 a.m., shortly after an Egypt-brokered cease-fire deal between Hamas and Israel fell apart.
Her tweet came three days after NBA star Dwight Howard tweeted the same thing and also deleted the post, TMZ reported. The athlete later apologized for getting involved in international politics.
