Rishon L’Tziyon Visits The Moroccan Shul

q1On Sunday evening, the Five Towns community was honored by the presence of the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, the famed author of the halachic series Yalkut Yosef. He spoke at Beit Midrash HaChaim v’HaShalom, otherwise known as the Moroccan Shul, located at 530 Central Avenue, next to Citibank. The event was well attended by leaders and members of the local Sephardic community. Rabbi Yosef delved into various halachic issues that address the community as a whole and inspired everyone to commit to serious limud haTorah. (For more photos, see page 71.)

Daniel Obadia, rav of the Moroccan shul, serves both the Sephardic and Ashkenazic needs of the Five Towns and Far Rockaway communities by creating a warm and accepting shul environment along with multiple programs and events that allow community members to participate at different levels. He invites everyone to participate in the ongoing daily shiurim and plans to continue to invite prominent rabbanim to our community.

The weekday prayers schedule is as follows: Shacharis is daily at 35 minutes before netz; first Minchah at 3:00 p.m.; and second Minchah followed by Ma’ariv is 10 minutes before shkiah. v
