aviSenator Dean Skelos has joined the growing list of supporters backing Avi
Fertig for the open Assembly seat triggered by longtime Assemblyman Harvey
Weisenberg’s retirement.

“I’m happy to endorse Avi Fertig for New York State Assembly.  Avi will be
a great partner in the Assembly.  His priorities are our priorities,”
said Senator Dean G. Skelos, State Senate Majority Leader.
Avi Fertig thanked Senator Skelos for the support, saying “I’m very
thankful to Senator Skelos for his backing.  There’s no question that I
will work day and night to be the strongest advocate for our entire
Assembly District – from Oceanside to Bay Park & East Rockaway and from the
Five Towns to Island Park & Long Beach.  It’s my top goal to actively work
each and every day for our middle class families and seniors.”

Fertig has made creating jobs, cutting taxes and helping every neighbor
rebuild from Hurricane Sandy’s destruction the cornerstone of his Assembly
campaign.  He will not only partner with Senator Skelos but also be a vocal
advocate for all our communities helping residents.

“Senator Skelos and I share the same philosophy: it’s our job to serve our
neighbors and the community we’re elected to represent.  I am ready on Day

One to help cut taxes, grow our economy to translate into more private
sector jobs and employment opportunities here and continue my work
assisting in full and complete Sandy recovery,” added Fertig.

In praising Skelos for his work delivering school aid to our communities,
Fertig also committed to ensuring our fair share in Public School and
Non-Public School State Aid is secured from Albany each year; not only does
it provide addition funds to our schools but it also helps reduce our
property tax burden.

Avi and his wife, Elana, an Early Childhood director of a private school in
Hewlett, live in Woodmere with their four children.
