Shulamith Celebrates Successful Dinner

Mr. Benjy Goldstein, Treasurer of Shulamith School for Girls, presenting the Educator of the Year Award to Mrs. Chana Schwartz

Shulamith School for Girls hosted its annual dinner this past motzaei Shabbat, January 5, at Temple Beth El of Cedarhurst and it was a beautiful event. Over 500 people turned out in appreciation of the school. The buffet dinner, catered by Seaview Caterers, was enjoyed by all.

The dinner began at 7:30 p.m. with all the guests soaking in the warm ambience. The program began shortly after 9:00. Mr. Shlomo Wilamowksy, representing the board of directors, greeted the crowd. He started with a dvar Torah relating how Moshe Rabbeinu went to the aid of the Midianite girls at the well despite not knowing them at all. He compared this act to our community’s amazing response to Hurricane Sandy. Mr. Wilamowsky then thanked the parents, teachers, and administration for their part in making the school the wonderful institution that it is.

The program continued with video presentations for the evening’s honorees. Dr. and Mrs. Norman Kupferstein were Parents of the Year, recognized for all their efforts and support on behalf of Shulamith and the entire community. Mrs. Chana Schwartz was awarded Educator of the Year in acknowledgment of the astonishing following she has attained in her 10 years as a morah in Shulamith. A delicious dessert buffet ended the affair.

Shulamith continues to have a great impact in our community, turning out fine girls who are true bnot Torah and ohavei Eretz Yisrael. Mazal tov on another year of success! v
