Shulamith eighth-graders visiting their elders

On Friday, October 4, the first day of Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan, the eighth graders of Shulamith School for Girls visited Long Island Living Center in Far Rockaway. The outing was the second in a series of chesed activities planned for Shulamith Middle School students this year. The first activity took place before Sukkot, when a group of seventh-graders paired up with Kulanu students to make sukkah decorations.

During their visit on Friday, the eighth-graders and the nursing home residents enjoyed talking with each other, sharing details about their lives and their families. The eighth-graders also sang for the residents, spreading simcha and bringing smiles of joy to myriad faces. The hour was over in no time, and all agreed that the visit was a great success. The question being asked by just about every student was, “When’s the next chesed outing?!”

Stay tuned . . .
