The Tuesday that comes after Thanksgiving–and after Black Friday and Cyber Monday–is known as “Giving Tuesday,” which has become a global day of philanthropy. Members of the Israel Action Committee at the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls used the opportunity to collect funds for the Neve Tzuf community in Israel, which was devastated by fire.

In addition to selling delicious hot potato kugel, the committee members set up computers at the two parent conference evenings so that contributions could be made directly to the fund. Over $2,000 has been raised so far!

Yasher koach to SKA sophomores Leora Fenster, Emma Greenbaum, Mimi Leifer, and Talia Wein for their work on this special project. Israel action and advocacy continue to be important parts of the SKA school day, and thanks go to Mrs. Helen Spirn, head of school, and Ms. Raizi Chechik, principal of grades 10—11, for their guidance and support.
