Snow Alert From the Village of Cedarhurst

The National Weather Center and the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management are predicting a wet, dense and sloppy and snow storm with an average accumulation of 8”.  The snowfall is expected to start late tonight and continue through tomorrow.

The Village’s snow crews will be plowing and salting/sanding the roads, and we need your help.

Whenever possible, please park in your driveway.  This will help  the plows clear the road from curb-to-curb.  If you are not able to park in the driveway, please park on the same side of the street as other cars.  After one side of the street is plowed, move the car to the plowed side, so that the plows’ second pass will clear the balance of the road.

Before leaving for work or school, check to be sure that your destination will be open and we suggest that you use public transportation whenever possible.

The weather services warn that travel will be dangerous.  They recommend that you only travel in an emergency.  If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.  Make sure that you cellphone is charged.
