Heavy storms and substantial downpours drenched many parts of Israel on Sunday night the first day of Sukkos.

Many sukkos were airborne by the heavy winds in the streets of Bnei Brak.

Chief Rabbi Lau gave a speech Monday morning and explained that the rain was a sign from hashem expressing his displeasure with the Jewish nation. “This is the first time since I can remember that I was not able to sleep in the Sukkah on the first night of the Chag and it feels as if God has humiliated us,” the rabbi told his congregation.

Back In the NY Area it was cloudy but there was no rain at all on the first night of Sukkos.
