(JNS.org) A suspected terror attack occurred near a checkpoint in Hebron, as a gunman opened fire on a family as they were driving for Passover celebrations.
A 40-year-old father of four was killed as shots were fired on the family’s car on Route 35 near the Tarqumiyah checkpoint west of Hebron. His 28-year-old pregnant wife suffered moderate injuries, and their 9-year-old son also suffered light injuries after receiving shrapnel to his chest, the Times of Israel reported.
The family was traveling from the Israeli city of Modi’in to Hebron to celebrate Passover with the mother’s family.
The Palestinian terror group Islamic Jihad issued a statement praising the attack, saying that the attack was a “natural response to Israel’s crimes,” the Jerusalem Post reported. But Islamic Jihad did not claim responsibility for the attack.
