Central’s senior class merged the fields of history and drama on their recent excursion to see the off-Broadway show, Wiesenthal. This biographical play recounts the life of Simon Wiesenthal, known as the “Jewish James Bond,” a Holocaust survivor renowned for his work as a “Nazi hunter,” tracking down Nazi war criminals to bring them to trial. Playwright and star Tom Dugan is the son of a World War II veteran who liberated Buchenwald. The students were moved by the play’s stirring messages of tenacity and heroism, and they had the opportunity to find out more information during a Q&A session with Mr. Dugan. Thank you to Mrs. Tova Rosenberg for securing fully funded tickets from the Shoah Foundation, whose members thought the play would align very well with the students’ Names, Not Numbers project.
