An East Jerusalem woman, apparently incensed over the anti-Islam film that has roiled the world, attempted to stab a policeman in the capital Sunday morning.

The Silwan woman was stopped before she could injure the officer at the Shalem police station near the Damascus Gate in East Jerusalem.

She was taken into custody, where she told investigators she had been angered over the film “Innocence of Muslims.”

The movie, produced by a Christian Copt living in the US, portrays the prophet Muhammad as a philandering womanizer. Its release last week stoked anti US and Israel riots around the world which have left dozens dead.

On Saturday, about 30,000 people rallied against the film in Umm al-Fahm in northern Israel, calling for the punishment of anyone who offends Muhammad.
