On Wednesday, February 25th, Senator Simcha Felder met with New York City Mayor de Blasio to thank him for annulling the metzitzah b’peh restrictions put into place by the Bloomberg Administration. The restrictions unjustly violated religious rights by forcing parents to sign a written consent form before metzitzah b’peh could be performed.

“Baruch Hashem, the battle I began years ago when I was in the city council against the Bloomberg Administration’s edict prohibiting metzitzah b’peh has finally been won,” said Senator Felder. “The Bloomberg Administration acted with such chutzpah, and willfully violated our religious freedom. Mayor de Blasio is making sure that everyone, regardless of their beliefs, can practice their religion without fear of government interference. I am very thankful to the Mayor.”
