Charlie Kirk Murdered At 31

As we go to press it has been reported that right wing personality and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk has been murdered by an assassin at a college event at Utah Valley University.

Kirk is well known internationally for his outspoken advocacy of positions that are identified with the political right. That means primarily opposed to abortion and critical of the way the country has taken to accept LGBTQ rights and more recently the matter of transsexuals who have been involved in a number of mass shootings, such as the one at at a church in Minnesota in August.

Kirk was a deeply religious Christian but I recently heard him speak of his admiration for aspects of Judaism, especially the way he said he was starting to incorporate the observance of Shabbat in his life. To that end I heard him say that he has begun not using his cell phone anymore on Shabbos as his way to paying tribute to the uniqueness of the day.

Charlie Kirk was married with two young children. May his memory be a blessing for his family and friends.
