My Political Miscalculation
By: Larry Gordon
President Trump needs a Republican majority in the House of Representatives next year and for the final two years of his presidency.
Trump placed his trust in Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who has the ability to blaze the trail and play a pivotal role as he has in the past to create a path for victory for candidates like Mike LiPetri in District 3 and now Jeanine Driscoll, who won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in New York’s 4th Congressional District, which includes the very politically active Five Towns.
I apparently was not thinking clearly when I gave my endorsement to Marvin Williams for the Republican primary held earlier this week. Lt. Col. Marvin Williams served in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years and of late worked for Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a top-secret capacity that included input on matters of high intelligence in the State Department.
Marvin Williams was just not ready for prime time, and I failed to understand that. Now it is time to look ahead and work diligently to help Mr. Blakeman in his pursuit of the governorship and to do what we can to help sweep Republican candidates into the House across Long Island along with other relevant parts of the country where the 5TJT is read and has impact.
In other areas, it was disappointing to see Brad Lander defeat Congressman Dan Goldman so handily in Brooklyn. At the same time, Mr. Goldman deserved to lose when you consider the undignified and audacious way that Goldman spoke about President Trump. It looks like Goldman thought he could not be beat so long as he kept verbally hammering President Trump. Now Brad Lander can count himself amongst Zohran Mamdani’s Jewish best friends along with Bernie Sanders and a few—very few—others.
We make mistakes and miscalculations but then we are left with the golden opportunity to correct those errors. That’s the position I find myself in today. The American political landscape is changing but we can still hold tight, focus, and right that path especially when we fall off course.
Marvin Williams is probably going back to work at the State Department while we can do our part to help secure and even increase the Republican majority in the House in November.
Bruce Blakeman, Nassau County Executive and candidate for governor weighed in on the NYC primary results by saying, “The Hochul-Mamdani lunatic wing of the Democrat Party has made it less affordable and less safe to live in New York. I’m asking common-sense Democrats to join our cause to save New York from the socialist, anti-American Communists and restore normalcy to our state.”
Thankfully, Ms. Driscoll won this week’s primary by a large margin. This shows where our readers’ political priorities are. As President Trump says, it’s important to collect these great victories until we get tired of winning. Remember that in November.
