The Biala Rebbe of Bnei Brak Returns To The Five Towns

Excitement is already building as residents prepare for the annual visit of the Biala Rebbe of Bnei Brak. Barely a year has passed since his last trip, yet hundreds are again expected to seek his advice, blessings, and guidance.

Each year, the home of his hosts becomes a gathering place for people from every background. Lawyers, physicians, business owners, educators, rabbanim, and families from across the Jewish community arrive throughout the day and late into the evening. Many come to express gratitude for berachos they believe changed their lives, while others seek guidance during difficult moments or share joyous milestones.

One story frequently recounted involves a businessman from the western United States who was arrested in the middle of the night and faced serious criminal charges. His family immediately contacted the Rebbe’s office in Bnei Brak, asking for guidance and a berachah.

After hearing the details, the Rebbe encouraged the family to strengthen themselves through mitzvos and assured them they would experience a yeshuah. He also told the man that he would one day celebrate a seudashoda’ah at the Biala Yeshiva in Israel, adding, “The prosecutor will become your defender.”

When the case came before the court, the unexpected occurred. After reviewing the evidence, the prosecutor recommended that the charges be dropped, telling the judge that the defendant had already suffered enough. Moments later, the family’s first phone call was to the Rebbe’s office to share the news.

Stories such as these have contributed to the Rebbe’s reputation as someone people turn to in times of challenge, whether they seek guidance regarding health, family, parnassah, education, or shidduchim.

A couple from Great Neck came to the Rebbe after enduring years of heartbreak. Married for five years, the wife was pregnant but fearful after four previous miscarriages. Their doctors believed they were unlikely to have children and advised them to consider adoption.

After reading their note, the Rebbe offered words of encouragement and told them that, b’ezras Hashem, they would welcome a healthy baby. He urged the couple to strengthen themselves through mitzvos and good deeds and said he hoped to serve as Sandek at the child’s bris.

Months later, the couple celebrated the birth of a healthy son, and the Rebbe fulfilled his promise by serving as sandek at the bris—a moment the family still recalls with great emotion.

Among the many who seek the Rebbe’s guidance are singles hoping to find their shidduch and parents concerned about older children who have yet to marry. In addition to offering advice and berachos, the Rebbe is known for taking a personal interest in helping people build Jewish homes.

One recent example involved an orphaned young man and woman from Long Island who are preparing to marry. According to those close to the couple, the match came about only after months of the Rebbe’s encouragement, guidance, and personal involvement. He devoted countless hours to supporting them, individually and together, until, at 3 a.m. one morning, the traditional breaking of the plate marked the couple’s engagement—and the beginning of a new Jewish home.

The Rebbe assumed the leadership of Biala Chassidus following the passing of his father, the previous Biala Rebbe, who had appointed him to lead the Biala Yeshiva while he was still a young man.

Although he heads one of Israel’s respected Chassidic communities, with centers in Bnei Brak and branches throughout the country, his influence extends well beyond his own Chassidus. Every day, Jews from all walks of life visit him for counsel, encouragement, and berachos.

The Biala dynasty traces its roots back more than 200 years to the Holy Yid of Peshischa, a disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin and a descendant of the Baal Shem Tov. Among its distinguished leaders were the ChelkasYehoshua, revered for his unwavering faith and leadership during the Holocaust, and the Lehavas Dovid, whose warmth and devotion inspired thousands. The present Rebbe continues that legacy, dedicating himself to strengthening Jews throughout the world.

Among the Rebbe’s greatest priorities is the care of orphans and widows.

Under his leadership, the Biala institutions include yeshivosbatei midrash, and kollelim throughout Israel. At the heart of these efforts is the Orphans and Widows Fund, which provides clothing, food, educational support, housing assistance, and personal care for children who have lost a parent.

Those close to the Rebbe often describe his relationship with these children as deeply personal. He follows their progress, celebrates their achievements, and ensures their physical and emotional needs are met. Before each yom tov, he personally oversees the distribution of clothing, gifts, and financial assistance so that every child can celebrate with dignity.

To better serve these children, the Rebbe recently initiated the construction of a new campus in Beitar Illit. The expanded facility will include classrooms, dormitories, recreation areas, and modern amenities designed to provide students with a warm and supportive environment.

The campus complements the Rebbe’s extensive chesed network, which distributes food, clothing, household necessities, and financial assistance to families in need throughout the year, particularly before yomtov.

Many families seek the Rebbe’s counsel on education and shalom bayis. Parents often consult him regarding challenges with children, while couples turn to him for advice on strengthening their marriages.

Those who visit frequently speak of his practical wisdom, patience, and compassion. Through personal guidance, encouragement, and an emphasis on mutual respect, many families say they have found renewed peace and stability in their homes.

From July 5 through July 20, residents of the Five Towns will once again have the opportunity to meet privately with the Biala Rebbe for advice, guidance, and a berachah.

The Rebbe will be staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Avi and Ayelet Attias, 340 Ocean Avenue, Lawrence.

Appointments may be arranged by contacting the Rebbe’s English-speaking secretary via call or WhatsApp at 917-272-4045 or by e-mail at [email protected]
