Right Goes Wrong

Podcast host Ben Shapiro seems to be taking on the fake political right almost by himself. And it’s complicated because the standalone issue seems to be just about Israel and the Jews. In the political discourse, there’s almost no other topic that can bring a large number of media figures to total agreement like the subject of criticizing Israel and the Jews.

And the target of most of last week’s attacks was Mr. Shapiro, who proudly appears in the media wearing a knitted black yarmulka proudly atop his head.

Coming out against Jews is not a new invention. It is practically as old as the world itself as King Solomon wisely noted that “there is nothing new under the sun” (Kohelet 1:9).

While Mr. Shapiro has boldly taken on such figures like Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly (who have pretty much come to the conclusion that all the world’s ills can be traced back to the Jews and Israel), when it comes to defending Israel and the Jews, Shapiro is hardly alone.

Here in New York on WABC Radio from 6 to 10 a.m., Conservative radio host Sid Rosenberg has taken on the man who has made a name for himself as a supreme Jew-hater: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani has allied himself with anyone on the scene who expresses similar antisemitic disdain for Jews, Israel, and of course Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It may be true what’s been reported in the press, that Mamdani may be the first mayor in modern times who appears to hate the city and many of its 8 million residents.

Mayor Mamdani thinks he struck gold by coming out against Israel and especially Bibi Netanyahu. In his silly, almost childish way, he sits before the cameras declaring that Netanyahu is a war criminal and should not be allowed into New York, and he wishes the prime minister would set foot in the city so he could order his arrest.

The only thing is, the International Criminal Court, which he’s so fond of mentioning, has never charged Bibi with anything resembling war crimes. That hardly gets mentioned, mainly because Mamdani has made himself the judge and jury of October 7th, even though he never mentions the horrific attacks that occurred on October 7th and prefers to present a twisted narrative that begins on October 8th, when Israel began to fight back against the Hamas terrorists.

Almost no one in the media speaks out as strongly against the Mayor as WABC’s Sid Rosenberg. For now, Rosenberg and his on-air team’s goal is to make sure that Mamdani is disinvited from the 25th anniversary memorial of the tragedy of 9/11. The reason is simple: Mamdani supports terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah and those who cheer them on from the sidelines. Mamdani talks about wanting to represent all New Yorkers, but based on all he has demonstrated over the last six months, that is just meaningless hot air.

For now, the people of New York are stuck with this Mayor for the next three and a half years, a frightening thought more than anything else. But over the short term, it’s understandable that those who lost loved ones in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks do not want a supporter of terror groups to be standing with them as they remember those they lost. Recently, family members of 9/11 victims started an online petition calling for Mayor Zohran Mamdani not to attend the 25th remembrance ceremony, but the mayor stated he plans to be there.

Of course, that is only if the 9/11 memorial is actually held in lower Manhattan. I feel that if you want to keep Mayor Mamdani away, hold this year’s memorial at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, where one of the four hijacked planes crashed on Sept. 11. Mamdani has no business being in DC. It’s not his domain and he would be unwelcome there.

In terms of the lower Manhattan memorial, perhaps a smaller one can be held at another time with or without the mayor and his socialist/communist cohorts. Mamdani might be a lot of things, but being a true imbecile might not be one of them. But at the same time, he has New York and most New Yorkers wrong and he is about to find that out the hard way.

Mamdani announced this week that the discounted supermarkets that were a core campaign promise of his will be opening in 2029. Let’s hope that this is after his administration comes to a likely failed end. As far as free busing is concerned, the best bet is to sneak on through the back doors and jump the turnstiles. Maybe that’s what he meant by “free transportation.” Who knows?

Are people like Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly supporters of Zohran Mamdani just because the mayor has so much hostility for Israel and Jews? One thing the three have in common is that if you referred to them as antisemites, they would look at you with indignation. What, me?

In the meantime, Sid Rosenberg on WABC is hammering away at Mamdani every day. That the Mayor is not wanted in lower Manhattan on 9/11 should not be news to him. He just has to get it through his head.
