Samuel H. Wang Yeshiva University High School for Girls (Central) congratulates its 2018 graduates and its class honorees.

Valedictorian: Aviva Gonter.
Aviva has left an indelible impression on Central and its faculty. Aviva is kind, ambitious, organized, and a deep thinker. She has tapped into these traits to achieve the title of valedictorian despite the long commute to school for ninth through eleventh grades. She served as a member of the Model Congress team, Historical Society, and Mathletes, and volunteers as a peer tutor. Aviva will continue her journey at the highly selective Macaulay Honors Program at Brooklyn College.

Salutatorian: Hila Karol.
Hila will always be remembered at Central for her wit, humor, involvement, and commitment to the school community. Hila has been an active member of the Torah Bowl team, captain of the College Bowl team, and one of the editors of this year’s yearbook. Hila was involved in so many different activities in school while simultaneously being dedicated to her studies, all while commuting from Riverdale. Hila often stayed over at classmates’ homes to be closer to school to participate in late-night events and practices. Hila will join the S. Daniel Abraham Stern Honors Program after a year studying in Israel.
Keter Shem Tov: Marnie Weingarten.

Marnie was chosen by her classmates to represent them based on her strength of character and middot tovot. Marnie has been an integral member of the school community, playing on the soccer and basketball teams, and as a member and eventually captain of the Debate Team and Israel Advocacy club. Her dedication to chesed is what makes Marnie stand out and the reason she was nominated by her classmates; Marnie spends time as a respite volunteer through Chai Lifeline, offering parents of sick children a break. She also volunteers on a regular basis for the Searide Therapeutic Riding Academy. Marnie will continue her journey at the S. Daniel Abraham Stern Honors Program after a year learning in Israel.
