An Israeli man was shot dead on Tuesday in a drive-by attack on a main West Bank road near Nablus.

The victim – Rabbi Raziel Shevach, a 35-year-old father of six – was alone driving a car which was fired upon from a passing Palestinian vehicle at the Havat Gilad junction on Route 60 at around 8 p.m. local time.

Shevach – who lived in the Havat Gilat outpost – was able to telephone for help, but he later passed away from his wounds at a hospital in Kfar Saba.

IDF troops arrived at the scene of the attack and began conducting searches in the area, which has seen many Palestinian terrorist attacks over the years.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “I express deep sorrow and send condolences to the family of Raziel Shevach, who was murdered tonight by a despicable terrorist. The security forces will do their utmost to apprehend the vile killer and the State of Israel will bring him to justice.”
