Last month, staff Geoffrey Finkel, CRPS, Associate Account Executive, Susan Johnson, Participant Account Executive, and Adyna Pressley, Second Vice President, all from Mutual of America, visited OHEL’s Day Hab program. Mutual of America has been a longtime supporter of OHEL, and their executives joined the DayHab program for a Corporate Give Back Day before the holiday season.
Geoffrey, Adyna and Susan spent the morning with OHEL individuals at the Brooklyn Day Hab Program working together on the Gifts At Work Program. This is a work training program for individuals with disabilities that also allows community members to volunteer and pack bags with them at OHEL’s Day Hab program. The gift bags are then available for purchase. Gift bags come in three sizes and are filled with quality gifts and delicious snacks that can be enjoyed by family and friends.
Mutual of America is committed to community service and this was the perfect opportunity for staff to spend some time with the individuals OHEL serves. It was a great way to meet the individuals, and help them package holiday gift bags together.
“What a great morning we had spending time with OHEL individuals” said Geoffrey Finkel, Associate Account Executive. He continued, “It was wonderful working alongside the OHEL individuals who are participating in this job training experience. Mutual is committed to helping people of all abilities in the community and this packaging project was an ideal way for my Mutual of America Team to volunteer and spend time on this worthwhile project”.
OHEL has packages available for Chanukah, Purim or any time of year. Packages can be customized and are also available for children. For more information about OHEL’s Gifts at Work program, to set up a ‘packaging’ event at your school or office, to OHEL’s Day Hab Center, or to order your holiday gift packages, please visit www.ohelgiftsatwork.org.
