Dr. Eric and Mrs. Sara Pollak

Dr. Eric and Mrs. Sara Pollak are the proud parents of four Shulamith students—Ayelet, Shayna, Aviva, and Shifra, each currently a student in a different division of the school. The Pollaks chose Shulamith for their family as they felt that the unique hashkafa of the school aligns perfectly with their family’s values. Shulamith’s commitment to Torah values and learning, middot, kavod habriot, and true love for Medinat Yisrael is exemplified by each of the Pollak girls, who light up the halls of Shulamith with their middot, smiles, and care and concern for their peers, and who are active participants in all aspects of student life.

It is no surprise that the Pollak girls are such integral parts of the Shulamith family given the focus on community and education that Sara and Eric have cultivated in their home. Having both grown up in homes centered around giving back to the community, Sara and Eric understand the importance and centrality of demonstrating and modeling those values for their daughters. In their professional roles, each is focused on caring for the needs of others—with Eric serving as Director of Behavioral Health at Ezra Medical Center, while maintaining a private clinical psychology practice in Woodmere, and Sara serving as the Director of Admissions at Yeshiva Har Torah and an integral part of its staff. Their focus on all aspects of the klal and the emphasis they place on the values of chinuch as well as dedication to Am Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael is evidenced by their involvement in many facets of community and school life outside their professional roles as well. Eric plays an integral role in Nevut—an organization supporting Lone Soldiers of the IDF in their moves back to the U.S. after their service in the army, and serves as a valuable resource on all aspects of mental health. Having grown up in a home of educators, Sara’s focus on the importance of chinuch is deeply ingrained, and she is always happy to contribute in any way that she can to Shulamith—whether it be volunteering to help coordinate school programs, serving as a class mom for many classes over the years, or her active involvement as a member of the Parent Council and Dinner Committee.

It is a true honor to recognize Sara and Eric and their invaluable contributions to the Shulamith family and our community as Guests of Honor at this year’s Annual Dinner.

Shulamith students try out a blubber bag

First graders at Shulamith have been learning about what animals do in the cold weather. They learned about migration, hibernation, and adaptations. One amazing way some polar animals keep warm is using blubber. But would it really work? They tried putting their hands in icy cold water, and in a “blubber bag” to find out if the shortening would really keep the cold at bay!

A fun graphing lesson in Nursery at Shulamith ECC!
