County Executive Bruce Blakeman Announces Law Enforcement Endorsements Ahead Of November Election
Bruce Blakeman joined leaders of several prominent law enforcement unions who announced that they would be endorsing the incumbent candidate in the upcoming race for Nassau County Executive. Elections for the position will take place in November.
Blakeman was endorsed by every Nassau County Law Enforcement Union. Union leaders who spoke in favor of Blakeman at a press event held in Massapequa Park included President of the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association Tommy Shevlin, President of the Nassau County Superior Officers Association Ricky Frassetti, President of the Nassau County Detectives’ Association Bill Bourguignon, and President of the Nassau County Correction Officers Benevolent Association Pete Lilli.
“We know that we have to hold the line in Nassau County. We have to protect our residents and keep this as the safest county in the country. Bruce Blakeman is the man who has been doing it, and he’s the man who will continue to do it,” Shevlin said. “Many people say they back the blue. Bruce Blakeman doesn’t just say he backs the blue; he acts upon it.”
“I am happy to be here today to endorse Bruce Blakeman for County Executive,” Frassetti stated. “This is an easy decision. Nassau County, where do we stand today? Safest county in America. You understand that? Not the safest county in New York, the safest county in America—many, many years in a row. And we will continue to be the safest county under the leadership of Bruce Blakeman.”
“An endorsement of County Executive Blakeman from the Nassau County Detectives’ Association is a promise to the people of Nassau County. It means with his leadership, our communities, our schools, our beaches, and our parks will continue to remain among the safest and most secure in the nation,” Bourguignon said. “A vote for Bruce Blakeman is the first and most essential step in keeping Nassau County the safest county in the United States. For all these reasons, I’m proud to say on behalf of myself, my executive board, my active and retired members, that we wholeheartedly endorse Bruce Blakeman to continue serving as our Nassau County Executive.”
“Nassau County is safer because of the leadership and guidance of County Executive Bruce Blakeman. He supports the men and women of law enforcement—our police, corrections, and sheriffs—to keep our county safe,” Lilli stated.
County Executive Blakeman thanked all the members of the law enforcement unions for their support and for serving our communities. He also reaffirmed his commitment to public safety initiatives and stated that having the backing of the men and women who protect us is a true honor.
“I am honored to get the endorsement of all these amazing organizations that represent the men and women who protect our county,” County Executive Blakeman said. “I can’t say with enough feeling what this means to me—to have heroes saying, ‘You know what, Bruce, you did a good job, and we’re behind you.’ It’s something I’m incredibly proud of.”
The support that County Executive Blakeman has received from law enforcement organizations underscores his track record of making Nassau County the safest county in America. He has authorized the hiring of over 600 new police and correctional officers during his tenure as County Executive and supported critical projects, like the construction of a new Police Training Village, to ensure that our officers receive the best available training. As a result, major crimes have declined year after year in Nassau County and are now down over 13% year-to-date in 2025.
In addition to the unions represented at the press event, County Executive Blakeman has received official support from many other law enforcement organizations. Those include endorsements from the New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association, the Suffolk County Detectives’ Association, the Suffolk County Superior Officers Association, the New York Police Department Superior Officers Association, the New York Police Department Lieutenants Benevolent Association, the Nassau Police Conference, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Benevolent Association, the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, and the Port Authority Superior Officers Association.
