Summer Thoughts
Sometimes I wonder if I were to make a list of the top ten favorite things to do by Five Towners what I would write. The fact that I’m even thinking along those lines means I’m probably going to bed much too late and watching far too much late-night TV. It also means that the hot weather and muggy rain showers are getting to me.
Even if this is true, I’m sure that if I were to interview people randomly in town, we would all get at least 5 out of 10 of the same favorites. So, let’s have a little fun and see if some of my choices are the same as yours and see how this plays out.
Top 10 Favorite Summer Things to Do
- Figure out an alternative way to get home on gridlock day on the Rockaway Turnpike.
- Find a parking spot near Crawford’s in the morning after all the kids are dropped off at school or camp.
- Set aside at least an hour fighting for a parking spot on a Thursday in the Cedarhurst municipal parking lot.
- Look for alternative places to shop to save money for stuff while finding great parking.
- Attempt to avoid making an illegal left turn out of the Peninsula Public Library driveway.
- Check in to see if you’ve I missed anything important on What’s App.
- Make sure not to forget “free Slushy day” at 7-11 and arrange to stop there before the end of day.
- Check out the house for sale on your block and see how it compares to your house, then decide if it’s worth a similar amount and if it’s the right time to sell.
- Check out the neighbors’ new renovations and see if you can get some new ideas.
- After such a long day, you’re too exhausted to cook, so you make dinner reservations on Central Ave.
Decisions! Decisions! Well, that’s my summer list for today! If we have any more flooding rain like we’ve been getting these last couple of months, I’ll start a list of what to look for when buying a boat, since that’s where this rain seems to be taking us. Anchors aweigh!
