Village Of Lawrence Provides Community Update On Woodmere Club Development and Litigation
After extensive discussions and diligent efforts, the Village of Lawrence is pleased to share that it is optimistic a favorable resolution has been reached to this nearly decade long saga.
As a result of negotiations, the developers have agreed to significantly scale down their original plans and instead construct a 160-unit age-restricted residential condominium community (55 or older). This three-story development will be located on 34 acres near Broadway. Importantly, the remaining approximately 115 acres of the property will be preserved as open, non-developable deed restricted land, ensuring that the character of our community is maintained.
To facilitate this revised development, the Town of Hempstead will be holding a public hearing on the Applicant’s proposal. The details are as follows:
Public Hearing, Tuesday, July 1, 10:30 a.m.
Location: Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington Street, Hempstead, NY 11550 in the Town Meeting Pavilion
Purpose: To consider the request to rezone the 34-acre development site from the Coastal Conservation District to the CA Residence District, thereby allowing for the proposed age-restricted condominium project.
